International Finalist Quality Innovation of the Year 2015 awarded to Simformer

An interactive course on Quality Management was awarded at International Finalist Quality Innovation of the Year 2015

In February, 2015 Vilnius University together with Simformer, an educational platform for business simulations, launched an educational program. The concept of the project is integration of Simformer business simulation into the Quality Management course, thus combining lectures on theory and practical assignments. Dr. Dalius Serafinas, a professor at Vilnius University, together with Minvydas Latauskas, Head of Product Development at Simformer, have created an innovative educational product that will allow students to:

• have a better understanding of business processes and functions of various types of enterprises,
• identify key factors, which have impact on the quality of each business process,
• evaluate these factors and the consequences of their changes,
• learn to maintain a high production quality level,
• Gain experience in quality management and learn how to solve problem, by practicing in lifelike virtual simulation environment.

 The goal of the course is to improve one’s skills and knowledge in quality management. Quality management has become an equally vital part of business management, like planning, organizing and control.

 An interactive «Quality Management» course was highly evaluated in Lithuania as well as internationally, at Quality Innovation of the Year Competition.

 Quality Innovation of the Year Competition took place for the first time in Finland back in 2007. The aim of the competition is to promote the importance of innovations; increase the quantity and improve the quality of innovation project.  Quality Innovation of the Year Competition, which started out as merely a national contest, has become a massive international event, with the representatives from Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Lithuania. Lithuania joined the competition in 2015, and Simformer educational platform has become one of the first Lithuanian companies that received Quality Innovation of the Year Competition the award.

 A business game «Quest for Business Excellence: Retail», available on Simformer platform, was based on the award-winning «Quality Management» course.
